Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
I share my life with my husband, Mike. My son, Luke and my daughter, Jessi. We have 2 cats, Snickers and Sophia and a dog named Rosie. We also have a tarantula, Lector. We live in Wisconsin and love to go up north to our place and take in the great outdoors. I grew up fishing and have taken on hunting with my husband. I am very happy just hunting with my camera most of the time. God has given us so many blessings.
I am a 20 year breast cancer survivor.
My husband works at Quad Graphics and has been a big support of my endeavors.
I have been working with fabric and making art quilts for about 15 years now. I have had my quilts in nearby galleries. I am an award winning quilt artist. In 2010 I had a quilt in a special exhibit in the IQA shows. The exhibit was called "Out on a Limb". I have a passion for quilting and teaching others to quilt. I teach some of my own patterns. Also patterns made by other companies. I also do lectures for guilds and shows. Please visit my Lectures and Workshop page for more information. I have a passion for life and my family. When I am not quilting I am doing anything outdoors, going up north. I am also an avid runner. Please email me with any comments or questions. firstname.lastname@example.org
Just an update to my life. I started a new job in a dental office December 17,2015 which keeps me busy 3 days of the week. But, I am retired from vending now. You can always check my Etsy shop for Patterns or email
me to see if I have what you are looking for.
Sometimes I make traditional type quilts. I made this quilt for my daughter Jessi. It is a pattern called Hidden Squares by Vanilla Latte.
I worked as a office manager at a dental office for 28 yrs. I also am a dental technician by trade. Making teeth believe it or not is an art. This was the only way for me to express my creative and artistic skills until I found my love for fabric and quilting. I have a passion for life. I have no formal training in art except a few classes in high school.
I have won awards at quilt shows and also at a few fabric shops when I enter their challenges. I have displayed my quilts in galleries and special exhibits throughout the country.
I have been very blessed with my talent. I love to make quilts, art quilts, purses, fabric birds and ornaments out of fabric. When it comes to fabric the sky is the limit. You may view my art on my blog called “ Laura’s Art on The Run”
Embellished Flower Fabric for Thread Sketching/Painting Class.
Back in 2000 I went to a Stampin Up party... It changed my life. I joined so many Yahoo groups and swapped art with gals all over the world. Rubber stamps led me to mixed media and that led me to Fabric. In 2003 I bought my first sewing machine.. My sister Cheryl Anderson followed suit. We fell in love with fabric!!! Would you like to hear the rest of the story? Invite me to speak at your guild and bring my trunkshow. My journey has proved to be very interesting! Check out the Lectures and Workshops page.
