Using Your Printer In Quilting and Making Quilts.
In this lecture I will show you different ways to use fabric sheets you print on with your inkjet printer. I will talk about different printers and inks. I will go over how you can enlarge a 8x11 page with a photo or drawing in a computer program and a internet website and print the pages on fabric paper
Fusibles and how do I start with Fusible Patterns
Students will learn about using fusible web to create raw edge art quilts. In a powerpoint presentation with movies I will show the steps to make Billy. And different ways to sew the fused pieces while quilting the quilt at the same time. Students will learn what fusible works best for different fabrics. With a trunk show of quilts.
Red Fox or other Toni Whitney Patterns
In this full day class we will make the top to one of Toni Whitneys beautiful patterns. You choose the pattern and I will show you how to make the quilt top. This is a copy, cut and fuse pattern. See 2 of her patterns below.
In this lecture I tell you my journey of how I became a quilter. Starting with a simple set of Rubber Stamps at a Stamping Up party to an award winning quilter. The show and tell of my journey to become a quilter is interesting. I even amaze myself at all the different art and media I had used. From simple rubber stamped card, to altered books, swaps with other artists and the reason I started using fabric. For a taste of my art before quilting and some of what I will bring along, check out my picture trail http://www.picturetrail.com/barngirl
I will bring a trunk show of quilts as well. This is a very fun lecture.
Toni Whitney Patterns
If you liked Bigfork Bay Cotton Co. patterns you will like Toni Whitney's. She was one of the artists who BFBCC asked to make quilt patterns from her art. She has her own company now with beautiful patterns. This is a half day workshop. You can use any of her patterns and I will show you how to build them to make the pictures. See her newest pattern on the right. Sea Otters.
You can see all her patterns at
This is a new workshop that I am offering. This photo is of my mom, her dad and mom. Finding the right fabric is key to making this quilt look vintage. Printed photos on fabric and just using fusibles and a straight stitch you can make this small quilt in a day. Embellished with buttons, a pin and lace. This is a really fun project. This can be adapted to use modern photos and fabrics.
This can be a half or whole day workshop.
This isn't the exact photo I used to produce Billy into fabric but, I used a similar one which I can't find anymore. You can purchase the pattern from me and gather your fabrics before the class.
This is a half day workshop
half day workshop
Using preprinted fabric or a printed image on fabric paper I will show you how to embellish with thread and beads. The thread sketching really gives it dimension.
Half day workshop
I bring along a lot of ideas on how to use photo transfer pictures. Including Christmas Tree ornaments of your kids, making books, small quilts, and so much more.
'This lecture will need wifi that I can connect to with my ipad and my printer.'
In this class you will build up my dog pattern Billy. It is a copy, cut and fuse pattern and goes together fairly quickly. See photo below. This is a 3-4 hour class.
This vintage-looking Snowman is so much fun to make! You’ll start with an old or new bottle, and then add treasures and trinkets to make this Snowman come to life. Make a scarf and funky hat to keep him warm and you’ll have a cute, vintage snowman to display all winter long. You probably won’t be able to stop at making just one!
Thread Sketching and Bead Embellishing
In this lecture I will tell you and show you how to embellish your quilts with threads. If you have a flower and you want it to pop more you can add some thread sketching. I will talk a bit about threads, and different ways to use thread sketching. I will demonstrate on my machine how to thread sketch. I will also bring some samples of quilts in which I have used thread sketching. I will also show you how to add some beads to your quilt ( for flower middles) and other embellishments.
If you want to learn something besides what I have listed just email me and ask!!
"New" Vintage Quilts
This is a new workshop that I am offering. This photo is of my mom, her dad and mom. Finding the right fabric is key to making this quilt look vintage. Printed photos on fabric and just using fusibles and a straight stitch you can make this small quilt in a day. Embellished with buttons, a pin and lace. This class goes hand and hand with the Using Your Printer lecture.

This is a 3 hour workshop. Using a printed image/photo or using printed fabric we will be using free motion to embellish part of a quilt with thread. I like to use fabrics with flowers and embellish them. I also show how to add beads to the flowers after they are thread painted.
( students should have some free motion quilting experience)
